SOE launched its inaugural Student-Entrepreneur Programme by providing seed funding and mentorship to 10 schools.

The Spirit of Enterprise (SOE) continues its efforts in promoting entrepreneurship
among our younger generation. It has identified 10 schools to participate in its
inaugural Student-Entrepreneur programme.

The schools have submitted a business plan easch, prepared by the students with the
supervision of their Teacher-Mentor. The student ventures include setting up a fruit stall
a second hand shop and a cyber cafe.

SOE has presented the seed money of S$1000 to each student team in March 2005.
Volunteer-mentors from the SOE Board of Governors have also been assigned to the
student teams. Led by Dr. Rosemary Tan, CEO of Genecet Biotechnologies, The SOE
Volunteer Mentors will help the students to fine-tune their business plan, provide
business advise and train them in areas of finance and all arenas associated with
running a business proper.

The student teams have submitted a report in September 2005. A full report will be given in November 2005 when the year-long programme is to be completed. All profits earned by students will be retained by the schools themselves while the seed money shall be returned to SOE so as to fund other teams in the following year.
