PRESENTATION THE PARTY”

About the Programme
Start-Up is an eight-part television series
capturing the spirit of entrepreneurship.
Jointly organised by Spirit of Enterprise (SOE)
and ACE (Action Community for Entrepreneurship) and produced by The
Right Angle Group, it is a story about the grit,
guts and gumption of people going through
the ride of their lives. This reality programme
will follow the fortyunes of eight startups over two months.
Each half-hour programme will capture the entrepreneurs at the most valueable yet
exciting phase of their dream.

Over eight weeks...
We will capture their excitement as they make the decision to strike it out on their own.
We will ask them what they want to achieve, their inspiration, and the time as they chart
their strategies and grapple wit the realities of the business world. We will share in their elation at their first deal. We will listen in as they convince bankers and investors to share their vision. We will root for them as they shape and re-shape their ideas, products and services. We will empathize with them as they hit their first road-block and cheer them on as they cope with the challenge of running a business, perhaps for the first time. We will be filled with pride as they overcome the hurdles to fulfill their true potential.

A panel of four seasoned entrepeneurs will mentor and advise the eight finalists. Each week, these mentors will also share with viewers their candid thoughts on whether the startups are headed in the right direction.

Did the start-ups make the right decision in turning down a deal? How can they improve on their presentation? Do they have the guts to take risks? Do they have the passion to make their dreams come true? Do they have the resilience to ride out the storms? Do they have entrepreneurial spirit?

At the end of two months of three experienced judges will decide which of the eight startups have made the best progress in realizing the vision they charted out.

Why this series?
...to honour and to inspire the spirit of enterprise

In charting the fortunes of these eight startups, this series hopes to inspire young would-be entrepreneurs and fortify the resilience of entrepreneurs going through times. It celebrates what being an entrepreneur is all about and it will inspire those who have always thought about making on their own but have yet to muster up the courage to try.

It expounds, in an entertaining way yet realistic way, the qualities needed in an entrepreneur. It turns textbook knowledge into practical advice on potential pitfalls of doing business. In showcasing very real people with very real problems, it hopes to debunk the myth that entrepreneurs are born and not made.
