How did it start?
It was noticed that there were many entrepreneurs that were in our everyday lives but
seemly were overlooked as models of inspiration. From that observation came the
original seeds that have blossomed into the Spirit of Enterprise to encourage all of us
to honour even the most humble of entrepreneurs and inspire others to follow in their
entrepreneurial footsteps.
Why is it called Spirit of Enterprise?

Can you explain your logo and its wording to honour and inspire?
We believe all entrepreneurs are Stars. Our logo represents in graphic form their
Spirit of Enterprise by encompassing a dynamic star symbol and the words of our
motto “to honour and inspire.” We honour all entrepreneurs no matter ho humble
their business appears and want to inspire young and old become entrepreneurs.
When will the Award Ceremony be held and where?
The Award Ceremony is usually held in the month of September at a prestigious venue. It was held at Empress Place in front of the Asian Civilisations Museum, Shangri-La Hotel and Grand Hyatt in 2003, 2004 and 2005 respectively. It is an annual affair as long it is a helpful organization in promoting entrepreneurism.
Why are you honouring 41 entrepreneurs this year?
Singapore is 41 this year. In 2003, 2004 and 2005, there were 38, 39 and 40 award recipients respectively.
How do nominees get picked?
Members of the Governing Board and Students recommend names.
How do the award recipients get picked?
After looking at the voting results and reading the interviews the Board will choose the final award recipients.
Can I nominate my own company?
Only student interviewers and the Board may nominate but you may send in your name, business name, and the reason why your company should be considered to enquiry@soe.org.sg.
How do the student interviewers get picked?
Notices are sent to universities, polys, and other schools in December of every year. Students who respond are interviewed. Students who has good communication skills and attitude are chosen to conduct interviews with the entrepreneurs.
Do the student interviewers get paid?
Yes we paid each student $100 for each interview and the work surrounding it.
Can I be an interviewer next year?
Sure. Give us your name if you are a student in a junior college, technical school, poly or university. Email us at kelly@soe.org.sg your contact particulars.
How do I vote?
Voting starts in the month of July every year.
How many nominees can I vote for?
You can vote for as few as 5 nominees or as many as 41.
Can I vote multiple times for one nominee?
We would prefer that you only voted once only for each nominee that you deem inspiring.
Can I vote via SMS?
Not yet but we are trying to see if it is feasible.
How do I make a donation?
You can make out a cheque to "Spirit of Enterprise" and mail to 41 Namly Avenue SIM Management House Business Centre - Executive Office Singapore 267616 or make a donation by Credit Card at the NCSS Online Donation Portal.

What does the Singapore government think of this effort?
Various Ministers have given their wholehearted encouragement. There are many worthwhile efforts actively undertaken by the public and private sectors; the Spirit of Enterprise hopes to make its contribution.
